Another slice of history

The Delapre Abbey

There are so many highlights to a holiday. It's therefore necessary to pick and choose. This week we went to the Delapre Abbey, somewhere in Northampton, and I, for one was transported back in time, to a time when the Church was one and believers did not have to make political choices.

The Delapre Abbey is much more than a thousand years old. It wears its age quite miraculously, for the main structures still stand solemn and solid. From the looks of it, the materials used were sandstone, limestone and solid wood. These basic building blocks have more than proved their longevity, for everything--lawns, woods, gardens and sculptures--brings together past and present in a most delightful way.

Coming back to the present, I was pleasantly surprised to find Veteran Lines in the new, once again. Check out this article in The Hindu newspaper of 3 December, 2025. More on this theme will be available on YouTube in a few days. Do let me know, dear Readers, what you think. I really value your comments.
